We began our adoption journey in September 2023 after learning that there were more than thirty children with Down syndrome under the age of six waiting to be adopted in Armenia. Our path to bringing our daughter home was a long, grueling one lasting over two years. International adoption is extremely expensive, and there were many sleepless nights and quiet tears shed into pillows as we wondered and worried about being able to afford completing our adoption. We were matched with our daughter Hannah in July 2025 and were desperate to bring her home as quickly as possible, due to her declining health. We are so thankful for the generosity of The Rollstone Foundation, who helped us bring our daughter home in December 2025. Hannah was just a month shy of her third birthday upon arriving home. She weighed fourteen pounds, could barely sit unassisted, was largely immobile, and had a serious and painful eye condition (which would have left her completely blind in one eye without treatment). Since arriving home, Hannah has already gained six pounds, can sit, scoot, crawl, and has begun to pull herself up to standing. She is already scheduled for eye surgery and has gotten glasses.
