The Adair Family

The Adair Family from Bountiful, Utah
who adopted Hannah from Armenia

We began our adoption journey in September 2023 after learning that there were more than thirty children with Down syndrome under the age of six waiting to be adopted in Armenia. Our path to bringing our daughter home was a long, grueling one lasting over two years. International adoption is extremely expensive, and there were many sleepless nights and quiet tears shed into pillows as we wondered and worried about being able to afford completing our adoption. We were matched with our daughter Hannah in July 2025 and were desperate to bring her home as quickly as possible, due to her declining health. We are so thankful for the generosity of The Rollstone Foundation, who helped us bring our daughter home in December 2025. Hannah was just a month shy of her third birthday upon arriving home. She weighed fourteen pounds, could barely sit unassisted, was largely immobile, and had a serious and painful eye condition (which would have left her completely blind in one eye without treatment). Since arriving home, Hannah has already gained six pounds, can sit, scoot, crawl, and has begun to pull herself up to standing. She is already scheduled for eye surgery and has gotten glasses. Hannah is thriving at home surrounded with love from her mom, dad, and adoring siblings. We are so thankful that she is ours forever! – Gratefully, The Adair Family

Rosa Adopted by the Carringtons

2 Year Old Rosa Faced a Dire Future as an Orphan in Bulgaria. Diagnosed with Microcephaly and Grand Mal Seizures, she faced serious and life-threatening Medical Issues.

“We knew years ago that God wanted to prepare us for the adoption process. With four kids already it was a bit of a daunting thought, but God consistently taught us he would provide and guide our path. We were told it could take 1-3 years to be matched to a child (and save up more funds), but only 3 weeks after being approved in the Bulgaria program we were matched with Rosa. A month later we were told our van engine was giving out, and a month after that I was laid off from my job. The grant awarded to us from Rollstone Foundation was nothing short of a God-send in a crazy time of life for our family. Organizations like Rollstone speak to God’s provision of his children around the world, and the families like ours who pursue their hearts. We can’t thank you enough for the support to help Rosa coming home to us!” – Joshua & Jessica Carrington

Rollstone’s grant enabled our family to go forward and adopt Martha when she was eleven years old from Ethiopia.  Martha is HIV+ which is very manageable here in the US, but which severely limited her living options in Ethiopia.  Because of her status she was a special needs child, which required a few extra provisions in the adoption process.  These grants make it possible for families to bear the burden of the up front adoption costs.  There are always more expenses once the children are home so that the extra care they need is covered, but your help can make it possible for children to receive the very best care with the love of a supportive family.  Thank you for helping us to bring Martha into our home.  She is a joy to our family.

The Brainerd Family

We are the Brainerd Family.
Jhon was adopted at age 5 from Colombia in November 2012.
We live in West Michigan.

Our family includes four children adopted internationally, all who were waiting and three who were considered “special needs.” With the love and support of family and friends – as well as the donors of Rollstone! – we have been able to build an amazing family.  It isn’t always easy, but it has always been worthwhile. We are so very thankful to parent such amazing children. I cannot imagine my life without them.

Thank you for ALL you do.

Best,
Cat & Mark Brainerd

We are so thankful for the help that Rollstone Foundation gave to our family in bringing our son home to us from China. He has waited 10 long years for a family. We can’t wait to welcome him at the end of May into our family. God has moved mountains for us to adopt our child. We have got to witness His awesome blessings as we stepped out in faith to bring Ty home. He has used various followers as well as wonderful grants like the Rollstone Foundation. $31,000 can be a daunting number when considering adoption, but our God is a big God. When He calls us and we trust Him we get to witness His faithfulness. He truely does make our hearts to look more like His everyday. He makes His desires become our desires. I encourage families to listen to God’s call and move. Thank you Rollstone Foundation for making a difference in a little boy’s life and helping him to become part of a family.

Sincerely,

Lori and Jared Denton

When we adopted Mekdes and Tigist in 2011, Rollstone’s incredibly generous grant was such a bright spot in what turned out to be a difficult process to get our girls home.  To this day, we remain amazed that we were so fortunate as to be on the receiving end of the wonderful work that Rollstone and its generous donors accomplish.

The Shaw Family

We are a family who seeks to be obedient to the Lord, immediately. This being said, God told us to adopt a THIRD time in just 2 years. We seriously wondered if we were crazy, but we KNEW He was calling us to this child. She was about to turn 10 years old and had been waiting to be adopted nearly her entire life. Due to her spina bifida, she was incontinent and unable to walk. She sat in a foster home for 8 years watching tv, never being able to attend school due to China’s lack of accessibility for wheelchairs.

We had just completed our 2nd adoption and had truly tapped out our fabulous support system. We sought grants to help us be obedient to this crazy thing we were being asked to do. We were so blessed to receive a substantial grant from The Rollstone Foundation and it made it possible for us to get to our daughter in the nick of time.

You see, had we had any delay at all, it wouldn’t have happened. We got her out of her orphanage on a Monday and by Friday she was on death’s door. Due to her incontinence, she had developed a severe kidney infection and had gone septic. We got her to an international medical clinic in China and once she was stabilized the doctor leveled with us: this was so serious she was within 1-2 days of death. Gotcha days are only on Mondays and she would have been gone by the following Monday. The Rollstone Grant was a key part in the plan God had for us to reach her in time!

She has now been home for 4 months and although she has a longer list of physical needs than we ever anticipated, God has delicately woven her into our family’s fabric. We are deeply grateful for His work in us. Esty’s heart is healing from the traumatic loss that adoption involves. She is clinging to us and learning about the God who loves her and did not allow her life to be snuffed out as an orphan. Her renal health has been stabilized and we are working on getting her the other medical attention she needs. She is also learning to walk with quad canes and leg braces!

This daughter of ours has the dream to become a doctor. She has the determination and strong will to do just that too! What a joy it is to have a front row seat to the miracles that God is doing in her life! We deeply thank you for your help financially to be obedient. We are so blessed.

The Gregersen Family

The Gregersen Family

When God called us specifically to adoption and Africa, there was a temptation to ignore and in disobedience, walk away. Our family was victim of the dark economic times. We were in the middle of unemployment and losing our home. Our children had been openly praying for more siblings, but Paul and I just weren’t sure. We considered the weight of the financial responsibilities that come hand-in-hand with growing and raising a family. More children? Adoption hadn’t even occurred to us prior to that, but as we surrendered in prayer to God’s voice, we realized that thoughts of mission trips to North Africa and our heart for orphans and widows were one in the same. We heard clearly that God was calling us to adopt. When we said “Yes” to God’s will, we watched Him move faithfully on His behalf – and on our family’s behalf. Paul was shown favor with an excellent company after nearly two years of unemployment and temporary side jobs. We also felt God’s leading and sovereignty as we held garage sales, candle sales, bracelet sales, babysat for friends, organized a spaghetti dinner and silent auction, sold handmade crafts and baked goods, and so much more to fund our adoption. We were placed on a wait list for siblings from Ethiopia with no gender or age requests; just whomever God had already planned to be Gregersens. On December 1, 2012 a dear friend sent us a picture of two beautiful little boys who needed a forever family. They had been placed in waiting, but the youngest of the two was HIV+ and families just weren’t scrambling at the door to take on that responsibility. There is no way I can explain the feeling I had when I saw that picture. The label of “HIV” brought absolutely no fear or doubt. It was as if God showed me that the only special needs both of these boys had were for parents and a family who would love them just for who they are. We moved forward in accepting the referral but that meant changing agencies, which meant starting over with agency fees, etc. We needed to raise another $22,000 in two weeks! I had already applied for several grants with only one small, local foundation coming through with support. I heard about Rollstone through another adoptive family, so once again, I prayed and sent our application in. When Mr. Dawidziak contacted me and told me we had been selected to receive a grant, I nearly fell to my knees in praise. I know God knew all along who would partner with us in our journey to bring our boys home. He planned that Rollstone would have part in saving my son’s lives and truly bringing proper medical treatment and health to our baby! We are honored to be acknowledged and supported by Rollstone. Their heart for orphans and adoptive families is intense and real. We will forever be grateful to them and their willingness to “join our family” as we brought our boys home. Grants for adoption, specifically for special needs children, aren’t just “a bonus”. The additional costs involved in healthcare, medications, treatments and testing, travel and resources add up to so much more than anyone can imagine. The grant we received from Rollstone helped lift some of that additional stress as we brought the boys home and allowed us to focus on the emotional energy and time invested in getting our little guy healthy. We have a lifetime of additional costs now, but the cost that would’ve been paid by our Eli had he not been able to come home may have ended up being his life. I thank the Lord everyday that He provided the means to bring Elijah and his brother, Simon, home to our family.

It is truly only because of the grant from Rollstone and the generosity of family and friends that we were able to financially complete our adoption.  The costs are so overwhelming and no cost should keep a child from having a family.  The work your foundation does is one of the greatest we can think of supporting ourselves and we look forward to doing that soon!

There are so many children with special needs that really only have a chance at life if adopted internationally (most of the countries they live in state that local residence will not adopt special needs children), usually from families within the United States.  We know so many families in the process of adopting children who have special needs internationally and all of them state the same need – finances.  Many of these families have numerous children (biologically and adopted) and are doing all they can – fundraising, using savings, being extra frugal – to fund their adoptions and many grant organizations make the process of application so difficult that among all the paperwork they are already doing the families find it so hard to apply, pay the extra application fee, only to find out they don’t get the grant.  It happens so often for these families.

When we learned about Rollstone we were so impressed not only with your mission but the ease of the application process and how in touch with us you were.  We knew you really ‘got it’, you understood what we were going through already and were really there to help, with no other agenda.  Thank you!

As we venture forward with bringing our daughter home in two weeks we know that we will leave behind many children in her country who desperately need families… we join now the many adopted families who say, ‘We would do it again in a heartbeat…. we have room, we have love, we have resources… but now our bank accounts are near low, how could we do it all over again… where would the money come from this time…but then again how can we just turn our back to them… ” organizations like Rollstone make it possible for families to say yes to not only adopting, but going back to adopt again, sometimes, as in our case, going back for siblings of children we have already adopted.  Thank you for making this possible for us all.

Money should never be what stands in the way of a child having a family, having a future, and for special needs children having LIFE…. Rollstone helped make that future possible for our daughter and for so many other children.  I can think of no greater organization to support.

Sincerely and with such great fondness, Britney Carr
